Week 09 - Scaffolding up

Monday 18 February 2013: Scaffolding up

Went by this morning to see the scaffolding were delivered. Weather looks cloudy today and showers are predicted. I am crossing my fingers for no rain.

Drove past again this evening to see the scaffolding has been put up, I guess this means that the top storey bricks will be starting soon. Spoke to SS and was told that they will be back on Monday. That means no work will be carried out for the rest of the week.







Week 08 - Bricks Started

Monday 11 February 2013: Bricks Started

Very excited to see the bricks have started on the ground floor. I think they look great, happy with the brick selection The mortar also looks good (Mortar - raked off-white) with the bricks.

They started around the garage, Alfreso and the Rumpus room. We were really happy to see some bricks up. I think there were only three brick layers laying the bricks.

Tuesday 12 February 2013: More Bricks

Brickwork complete on towards the garage, Kitchen & Rumpus Room.Brickwork almost complete on ground floor.

The end of the brickwork is in sight !!
Though it can't go any further until the scaffolding is up & that hasn't been completed yet.

Week 07 - We have Windows

Monday 04 February 2013: Part Windows In

I went past the site this afternoon and windows were installed partially.

And all our windows were fully installed today.

Thursday 07 February 2013: Nothing Happening

Went over to the house but nothing was done. Bricks was just sitting there. We were hoping that some work was done as it was good weather.  Hopefully tomorrow or on Monday.

Week 06 - Windows/Bricks Delivered

Monday 28 January 2013: Australia Day - Public Holiday

Tuesday 29 January 2013: Windows Delivered

And all our windows were delivered today.

I went past there this afternoon and they were in. We chose Hammersley Brown for all the windows. 

I'm hoping the windows will look better ones everything is done.



 Wednesday 30 January 2013: Bricks/Mortar Delivered

The frame is pretty much complete now and the bricks have arrived. We're not sure why the plumbing is done before the brickwork. Now the brickie has to brick around the plumbing rather than the plumber just drilling a hole through the brickwork. 

I think the palette of bricks we received looks good so far, I was worried we would get a dark palette but they look great.

Coosing the bricks was soooo hard, numerous weekends were spent looking at houses to see what the bricks looked like. It was hard to visualise what it would look like just by looking at a wall of bricks, I needed to see a whole house.

The off-white mortar/cement were delivered and that was it. Hoping the weather will improve over the weekend, surely they'll start the bricks next week... The bricks are Austral Everyday Life Freedom. The mortar will be raked and off-white in colour; can't wait to see how this looks.

Week 05 - First Floor Frames

Monday 21 January 2013: First Floor Frames Up

Our frames were 99% completed today. I can't describe how excited we feel. We had a decent walkthrough after they had left and could finally truly visualise what we will have. Its quite breathtaking and makes all the planning, organising and waiting, well and truly worth it. Also, we chose the 2.7m ceilings and man they are big. I feel like an ant standing next to the frames.

Wednesday 23 January 2013: Roof Trusses Started

Our roof trusses were started today.

Yesterday saw more roof truss work and delivery of the steel support beams for above the alfresco doors and above the front portico.

 Friday 25 January 2013: We have a Balcony

We probably wont see any more action until Tuesday due to the long weekend.
